Gretchen and Jeanine, the Founders of Fundamental Learning Center, had no other choice but to do the work themselves. Their kiddos were struggling and nobody could help them.

There were anxiety attacks, tummy-ache calls from the nurse, and a lot of frustration and saddess.
​
After years of back-and-forth, it was clear was the only option was to do it themselves. Jeanine spent six years spending three weeks in Dallas, three weeks in Wichita so she could get the best possible training for her son, Cooper.
She didn't want any other parent to feel the way she did for so long - all kids deserve to get the help they need. So, in 2000 Fundamental Learning Center was created and the impact began.

The changes are complete. It's done. Students and staff are moved in, going full speed ahead because of you.
Once you enter for the first time, words like "breathtaking, "stunning," and "wow" will probably come to mind. From the beautiful stone and brick exterior to the interior curved walls and stone columns, it is impossible not to catch our vision for educating children, parents, and teachers.
The Frank Lloyd Wright inspired building reflects the importance of Phillips Fundamental Learning Center's vision, desire, and mission to transform education for children with dyslexia in Kansas and beyond.

What does that mean for education?
Imagine going to school every day feeling sick. Imagine knowing something is wrong,
but not having the words to express what that is. Children with dyslexia are extremely bright and excel in many areas. Oftentimes, these smart kids learn early on how to "get by" in school. However, until they are taught to read the way their brains understand, they won't be as successful as they could be.

That's where we come in.
Schools are for learning.
Every student should have a safe place to learn and that teaches them in the way they need to be taught. Phillips Fundamental Learning Center is determined to create a school that empowers dyslexic children to learn to read, write, and spell.
Through specialized training and individualized programming, Phillips Fundamental Learning Center is able to help students excel. We meet students where they are and create a plan to get them where they need to be.
PFLC offers a school that finds a child's Super Powers and uses those strengths to help him learn to read, write, and spell.
More than anything, we must make a place for reading.
Optimal instruction for dyslexic students is 1:4 teacher to students ratio.
Our new home will make it possible for us to double our impact and serve up to 120 Superheroes!
