Preschool Language & Literacy: In the Kitchen/On the Farm

“I started teaching at Shirley Mayes in March of last year. As “In the Kitchen” has already been in progress, I was impressed by the children’s knowledge of “short” and “long” words. As I began to teach the curriculum myself, I was continually impressed by my relative ignorance about the curriculum. After attending this training, I am so excited to begin the new school year. After seeing the research behind this curriculum, I totally believe in it. I loved that Jeanine went into enough detail to explain why things are set up the way they are. I feel very prepared to help my preschoolers learn solid pre-reading and pre-literacy skills.

I also appreciated all the research presented that lead up to the idea that THIS program — because it teaches and promotes language and literacy — could be the key to our impoverished children becoming successful. And if they are successful, we are on our way to winning the war on poverty.”
