In-service Workshops for you and your staff:
It’s a new year at Fundamental Learning Center! National reading specialists have identified 5 essential components necessary for all children to learn to read. We offer one-day workshops that help your school implement these building blocks towards literacy with students! At Fundamental Learning Center, we specialize in literacy instruction that includes: Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Fluency,Vocabulary, and Comprehension.

The administration, staff, PTO/PTA, and volunteers who provide literacy instruction in your learning environment.
What do we offer?
Scientifically validated instruction as well as specifically developed materials.

Your place or ours…whatever suits you and your staff best.

Can’t afford to send your whole staff?
Call and ask about our Buddy School program. Multiple schools can send participants and all receive the benefits.
NOTE: All workshops can be combined for units of credit from Newman University.
MTSS,Tiers II & III – REMEDIATION:
Foundations of Literacy
for elementary teachers, ESL teachers, teachers of older students, and adult literacy providers
It’s never too late to build a foundation for literacy. However, children stop receiving instruction on “learning how to read” in the third grade. In this one-day workshop, learn how to help older students who still need preliminary reading skills of phonemic awareness, letter recognition, alphabetic principle, oral language and listening comprehension skills.

MTSS,Tiers II & III – FLUENCY:
Accuracy & Fluency for Emerging Readers
for elementary regular and special education teachers, secondary special education teachers, educational therapists working with students who need to improve the accuracy and rate of their reading.
In this one-day workshop, participants will learn the importance of fluency in reading, the role of decodable text in developing fluency and a system for planning lessons that increase a student’s accuracy and fluency.

MTSS,Tiers I & II - VOCABULARY/ COMPREHENSION INSTRUCTION:
Comprehension & Vocabulary Development 101, Emerging Readers
for early elementary regular and special education teachers, secondary special education teachers, educational therapists.
A comprehensive approach to literacy includes instruction in decoding and comprehension. In this six-hour session, participants will learn multisensory strategies for helping emerging readers develop their oral language, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

for upper elementary regular education teachers, elementary and secondary special education teachers and educational therapists.
